Getting started

02.1

First Run — Agreement to Terms and Conditions and Beta Information

When you run it for the first time, a terms of use guide will open. After reading and agreeing to the full terms and conditions, you will be taken to the main workspace. Axon is currently in beta, so you'll see a BETA badge in the top left corner of your screen.

CheckThe analysis results are helpful data for business review. Be sure to check with the original material before making any important decisions or making submissions.
02.2

screen structure

In the left function bar, go to Auditing, Internal Accounting, Excel Tools, Help, Settings. The sidebar of the audit workspace contains audit reports, statements/settlement sheets, document/ledger analysis, DART financial statement inquiry, and account area tools. You can expand or collapse the document list or search conditions by pressing the arrow to the left of the item.

You can check the OpenDART authentication key registration status in the status bar at the bottom of the screen. Change the screen theme, display language, and font size in the 'General' section of settings.

02.4

Feature differences between Windows and Linux

Audit report verification, ledger analysis and MUS sampling are available for Windows and Linux. The Live Roundtrip feature, which connects directly to a running desktop Excel, and the usix-vba Ribbon add-in are Windows-only.

TipOn Linux, enter audit values on the Axon screen or use file export/import. The Windows Excel Live Connection screen displays those items separately.

03

Audit report analysis

03.1

Load report

You can open archived DSD files or search public audit reports in OpenDART. When you open a report, the financial statement body and notes appear in the document tree on the left.

  1. 1Select 'Open DSD File' or 'View in OpenDART'.
  2. 2Select your company and report.
  3. 3From the document tree on the left, open the financial statement or note you want to review.
TipOpenDART inquiry requires an authentication key. Please register first in settings.
Load report screen
03.2

Footing

Recalculate the totals and subtotals displayed in the table to find cells where there are differences. Amounts linked between financial statements, such as cash in the statement of financial position and end-of-period cash in the statement of cash flows, are also compared.

OutcomeCheck whether the reported amount matches the recalculated amount, the difference amount, and the original cell location.
TipThe default is automatic validation when the report is opened. If you have turned off automatic verification in the settings, you can run it directly by clicking 'Verify Total' in the toolbar.
Screen showing the current and previous period total verification results as TRUE in the synthetic financial position statement of the virtual company Example Industry
This is an example of virtualizing the company name and amount based on the verification results of an actual public audit report. At the time of verification, all 250 totals and subtotals calculated from 50 tables matched, and TRUE on the right side of the screen indicates that the reported amount matches the recalculated amount.
03.3

Mid-term (semi-annual/quarterly) report

Semi-annual and quarterly audit and review reports are also recognized. It separates the 4-column profit and loss (accumulated basis) and the structure contained in the consolidated and separate files and performs total verification, inter-statement conversion and annotation roll-forward (basic → end of the period). The 'Next Quarter Base Document' creates a framework for the next interim period of the same base, with dates and prose to be checked by the user.

03.4

Text/annotation amount line

Check whether the amount in the body of the financial statement matches the amount in the notes or other financial statements. It also shows unit differences and rounding differences that occur during the display process.

  1. 1Select the amount you want to check in the text.
  2. 2Check the corresponding amount and location provided by Axon.
  3. 3If there is a match, it is marked as 'no problem' and, if necessary, the corresponding cell is specified directly.

You can distinguish between exact matches and candidates with simple differences for review.
03.5

Report Comparison/Electrical Ambassador

⚖️ When comparing audit reports left and right with other .dsds, changes, additions, and deletions are color-coded. 📑 The prior-period reconciliation matches both the previous year audit report and the current year financial statement text and notes, and also matches items with changed account names based on similarity and amount. The biography is automatically looked up by OpenDART, and if it is not found, you can specify the .dsd manually.

Summary of differences in audit report version comparison
Once the comparison is complete, item-by-item check any differences found in the financial statements and notes.
03.6

Carryover — Create the next draft

📥 'Carryover from previous period' creates a draft for the next period with the confirmed current period report. Raise all bases in the document by one (27th period → 28th period), and move the amounts from the current period column to the previous column. The values in the statement of changes in capital and notes are also carried forward. Since the new basic amount cannot be known for the roll forward/change/decrease table, the form must be left blank, and descriptive contents such as dates and audit opinions must be edited manually. The results will open in a new tab without changing the original. It also provides protection against accidental overwriting of drafts with existing data.

03.7Windows

DSD ↔ Windows Excel Live Editing

Selecting 'Edit with Excel' will open the current report in Excel as it is running. Every time you save (Ctrl+S) in Excel, the changes are reflected on the Axon screen.

OutcomeIt uses Excel's familiar editing features while keeping DSD's tabular structure and Axon review screens together.
  1. 1First open the DSD report you want to review.
  2. 2Under 'DSD ↔ Excel', select 'Edit with Excel'.
  3. 3After editing and saving in Excel, check the cells reflected in Axon.
CheckThis feature requires desktop Excel running. After saving, be sure to compare the Axon screen with the original report.

Perform DSD import, Excel editing, electromapping and DSD saving tasks all in one place.
03.8

External Excel reflection and DSD storage

'Import Excel' reflects changes in an external .xlsx file into the current report while preserving the original formatting and XBRL. When you add a row to the table, you are prompted to select an account code (ACODE) from the standard accounting scheme.

  1. 1Check the .xlsx file you want to reflect and the target DSD.
  2. 2Review table changes and account code candidates.
  3. 3Save it as a new DSD and confirm it on the DART receipt verification screen.
CheckThe ability to create DSDs in Excel is in beta. You must pass DART acceptance verification prior to actual submission.
03.9

export

When saving in Excel, the financial statements and notes are each created on separate sheets. 'Include putting' saves the sum verification mark together, and 'Exclude putting' saves only the organized results without the verification mark. The current report can be saved again as DSD, and the report comparison results can be exported to Excel or HTML.
